Latvia orders more Carl-Gustaf Ammunition

The Carl Gustaf is a Multi-role weapon system, which means that depending on which ammunition is used the role of the weapon changes. For instance you can go from High-Explosive rounds to Smoke or Illumination in seconds.

The Swedish Army is using what they call the Model 48 and 86. The model pictured is the M3 (Model 86), also used by the USA. (M3 Multi-role Anti-armor Anti-tank Weapon System (MAAWS)).

The latest version of the Carl Gustaf is called the M4.

There’s a wide range of ammunition available, from smoke, illumination to more serious and intelligent rounds.

Saab Receives Latvian Order for Carl-Gustaf Ammunition

Saab has received an order from the Latvian Ministry of Defense for Carl-Gustaf® ammunition. The total order value is MSEK 170.

The order is placed under a Framework Agreement signed with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration where Latvia has the possibility to place orders on grenade ammunition from Saab. The Armed Forces of Latvia has been a user of the Carl-Gustaf weapon system for more than 20 years.

Employing a wide range of ammunition types, the Carl-Gustaf system allows dismounted soldiers to take on multiple challenges – from neutralising armoured vehicles to clearing obstacles and defeating enemies in buildings. The Carl-Gustaf system, which has been sold to more than 40 countries, is successively being developed with new ammunition types and enhanced capabilities.
