Elbit Systems To Showcase The Skylark 3 Hybrid Propulsion Small Tactical UAS at Singapore Airshow 2022
Elbit Systems, an Israeli aerospace and defense company, has announced that the Skylark 3 Hybrid UAS, the newest member of the Skylark Small Tactical UAS (STUAS) family, will be on display for the first time at the Singapore Airshow 2022, Asia’s most influential international aerospace and defense exhibition, which will take place from 15 to 18 February.
Elbit describes the Skylark 3 Hybrid as a small tactical UAS with a hybrid propulsion system that includes both an electric and a combustion engine. It’s an aircraft designed to cut expenses while still improving mission effectiveness. It uses its combustion engine to reach the area of interest quickly, then switches to its electric engine to complete the objective.
Elbit Systems’ Skylark 3 Hybrid is a Long Endurance Tactical Mini UAS that builds on the battle-proven Skylark STUAS family, which, according to Elbit, has more than 30 international customers and 100,000 operational flight hours.
The Skylark 3 Hybrid has a wingspan of 4.7 meters, a flight time of 18 hours, and a service altitude of 12,000 feet, according to Elbit Systems‘ specifications. The UAS, which has a range of 120 kilometers and a maximum take-off weight of 50 kilograms, may carry a variety of payloads such as long-range EO/IR/laser, ELINT, COMINT, and a wide-area surveillance system.
Intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) operations, force and convoy protection, strategic infrastructure protection, and border patrol are just a few of the tasks and applications that Elbit says the Skylark 3 Hybrid can perform. The drone can be deployed and operated by a two-person crew using a pneumatic launcher that may be mounted to a vehicle or ship.
Alongside Elbit Systems other aviation focused companies including Airbus, China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, Boeing, Israel Aerospace Industries, Lockheed Martin, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, Rolls-Royce, Thales, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), and ST Engineering will also be present at the Singapore Airshow 2022.
