Israel Aerospace Industries Unveils New Green Lotus Multi-Sensor System at Eurosatory 2022
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has unveiled a new tactical multi-mission, multi-sensor system designed to improve situational awareness for ground and air units on the move. The company debuted the new GREEN LOTUS (ELI-2139) system for the first time at the international Eurosatory 2022 exhibition in France.
The GREEN LOTUS system, developed in partnership with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and IAI-ELTA Systems, is meant to offer stationary and moving forces with high-performance counter rocket, artillery, and mortar (C-RAM) capabilities as well as air and ground surveillance capabilities. An array of IAI-ELTA active and passive sensor arrays are incorporated in the system to optimize situational awareness and efficiency. GREEN LOTUS is able to detect, track, and identify low radar cross section rockets, mortars, artillery fire, and unmanned aerial vehicles simultaneously.
According to the IAI, the unified command and control (C2) console of the system receives and processes multi-sensor data, and artificial intelligence (AI) is employed to increase detection, classification, and identification capabilities. The generated Situational Awareness Picture (SAP) is clear and comprehensive, and it integrates seamlessly with countermeasures systems, enabling highly effective target acquisition and discretion.
“We are proud to introduce our latest system, which continues IAI’s long legacy of technological innovation,” stated Yoav Tourgeman, IAI EVP and CEO of ELTA. “The GREEN LOTUS integrates IAI’s range of proven sensors into a unique, advanced multi-mission system that offers important performance advantages. Our customers will realize maximal value as the system’s architecture enables it to evolve when new threats are introduced. The unveiling of the GREEN LOTUS at Eurosatory highlights IAI’s strong commitment to providing our customers with exceptional land defense solutions”.
Because of its ability to perform C-RAM while also conducting air and ground surveillance, GREEN LOTUS is a potentially highly effective force protection tool. Furthermore, the modular nature of the system enables it to be modified to match the demands of each specific customer. All of the sensors are contained in a specifically designed structure and share power, communication buses, and cooling. The structure gives total 360° coverage when fully equipped with a sensor array.
