ST Engineering Introduces Taurus UGV
Singapore’s ST Engineering have introduced a new multi-role 4×4 UGV, the TAURUS. The TAURUS has been designed to be multi-functional with a modular design which allows it to be optimised for logistics tasks, surveillance and reconnaissance, casualty evacuation and disaster relief operations.
ST Engineering’s TAURUS enters a burgeoning unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) sector which has a number of major players including Milrem Robotics’ THeMIS, GDLS MUTT, Rheinmetall Mission Master XT, Elbit/Roboteam PROBOT and Havelsan BARKAN.
Capabilities:
- Regenerative on-the-move power hub, providing electrical power to compatible systems in the field and can recharge while being towed giving high energy effiency
- High degree of portability, can be transported or towed in the field
- Fully electric, all wheel drive and all wheel steer with independent drive units on each wheel
- AI-capable, autonomy capability integration-ready, can follow waypoint navigation, avoid obstacles and follow designated individual or vehicle
Payloads:
- Can deploy tethered unmanned aerial vehicles and quadruped drones for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance
- Logistic module, optimised for logistic support missions with a collapsible container system
- Casevac capability with space for two stretchers which can evacuate wounded safely
- Further logistics capability with a material handling configuration which includes a portable generator and a robotic arm
- Can be up-armoured to provide increased protection
