Latvia Ordered 56 Additional Armored Patria 6×6 Vehicles
The Latvian Ministry of Defense has reached an agreement worth €60 million with the Finnish company Patria Oyj to supply 56 additional Patria 6×6 armored vehicles configured for command and control (C2) operations. The supply agreement is part of the Common Armored Vehicle System (CAVS) program and adds to ongoing deliveries.
The vehicles will be produced in the factory established in Valmiera in May this year by the company “Defense Partnership Latvia,” which belongs to the PATRIA group. Deliveries will start at the end of 2024 and last until 2029.
“The new Patria 6×6 armoured command and control vehicles will significantly improve the operational capabilities of our armed forces, as well as contribute to the development of the Latvian military industry, continuing the successful cooperation between the defence sector and industry,” emphasizes Andris Sprūds, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Latvia.
The Patria 6×6 is an armored vehicle designed by Patria to provide high mobility, protection, and flexibility as part of the multinational CAVS program involving Finland, Sweden, Latvia, and Germany. The vehicles can carry 8.5 tonnes of payload and can be configured for various roles such as troop transport, reconnaissance, command and control, medical evacuation, and logistics support. The platform has an adaptive protection system against ballistic threats, mines, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Furthermore, It is compatible with weapon systems such as remotely controlled weapon stations (RCWS), anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs), and mortar systems, making it ideal for combat environments.

Latvia received it’s first Patria 6x6s in November 2021, with the first locally produced vehicles delivered in August of this year.
