KNDS France Unveils CENTURIO-X30 (Next-Gen Combat Robot)
KNDS France, in partnership with Sogeclair, has introduced the CENTURIO-X30, a cutting-edge autonomous combat vehicle. Built on the PHOBOS platform, this advanced military robot features a 30mm (30×113mm) cannon mounted on the ARX 30 remotely operated turret. Designed for heavy fire support, the CENTURIO-X30 enhances battlefield effectiveness by assisting dismounted units while ensuring safe remote operation. This state-of-the-art system marks a major step in military ground robotics, offering increased firepower, mobility, and autonomy for modern warfare enhancing battlefield awareness.
CENTURIO-X30 can reportedly analyze the battlefield in real time, automatically adjusting its movements to avoid obstacles and stay effective in combat. This smart technology reduces stress on operators, allowing them to focus on strategic decisions during patrols and reconnaissance missions. In high-intensity combat, the CENTURIO-X30’s remote-controlled firepower ensures precision strikes while keeping soldiers safe from direct enemy threats.

It is equipped with the ARX 30 turret, a remotely operated weapon system that delivers superior firepower compared to conventional small-caliber platforms. The turret features KNDS’ 30M781MPG cannon, a land-optimized version of the 30mm gun used on the Tiger helicopter, making it highly effective against infantry, light armored vehicles, and fortified positions. Designed for precision targeting, the ARX 30 includes a high-resolution CCD color camera, an uncooled infrared camera for thermal imaging, and a laser rangefinder, ensuring accurate engagement in day, night, and adverse weather conditions. The CENTURIO-X30’s firepower is highly adaptable, with an adjustable firing rate ranging from 225 rounds per minute, for controlled engagements, to 720 rounds per minute for sustained fire. It supports a variety of ammunition types, including high-explosive incendiary (HEI) rounds for unarmored targets, armor-piercing high-explosive incendiary (SAPHEI) rounds for lightly armored threats, and training projectiles for non-lethal exercises. With a maximum effective range of 1,500 meters, it can neutralize threats from a distance, reducing the risk of close-quarters combat.
Beyond its advanced weaponry, the CENTURIO-X30 features autonomous mobility capabilities that enhance survivability and mission efficiency. It includes a leader-follower mode which allows it to synchronize movements with manned units or other autonomous platforms for seamless tactical coordination. This capability is essential for convoy operations and multi-unit combat scenarios, making the CENTURIO-X30 a game-changing asset for modern warfare. Its secure long-range communication system allows it to operate remotely without line-of-sight, making it ideal for urban warfare and rugged terrain. Designed for high-intensity combat, the CENTURIO-X30 integrates firepower, mobility, and networked communication, with future upgrade options for advanced weapons, sensors, and electronic warfare systems.
